I'd Rather Be Drawing
Whew. I need to get that on a bumper sticker.
I look at things now and see the lines that compose the objects that I'm seeing. I see faces and see the lines that create the shapes that form the words that form the spaces between the objects that I'm looking at. I see trees and think about what makes up the overall form of the trees. I don't see the leaves, because really, that's pointless; but I see the darkness contrasting with the light and the heighth and the underside. I see the direction of the lines and the space between the gaps.
I think to myself, I should get out my camera and take pictures of these angles that I'm seeing all around me. That way, I could go home and really draw what I see.
I swear, I gotta stop having drawing dreams. They're filled with such light and complexity that when I wake up, my eyes hurt from the shades and the sheer brilliance.
Meanwhile, I work in a gas station.
But I don't stop thinking there. I just file away the stories and personalities I meet there for future novels . . . BTW, speaking of writing, I'm also writing a screenplay right now for
Script Frenzy 2007! Their goal for you is that you write a 20,000 word script in one month. Remember, the goal for
Nanowrimo is a 50,000 word novel in one month. So, 20,000 words? Nothing to it! Right? Well, I work two jobs for at least 40 hours every week and periodically, I get pulled in to work third shift (11 pm to 7 am). So my free time is a bit limited. Even so, I'm still up to 8 thousand plus words as of today. I probably should have done some more writing today, but instead I watched Dawn of the Dead. It was pretty funny. I liked the parts where the zombies were eating human flesh. They bit it and it tore right off, sending this bright orangey-red blood spurting into the air. Fun. Eh, but the whole reason for seeing that movie is because I'm actually planning on seeing "Shaun of the Dead" tomorrow with some friends. We've rented it and now we gotta watch it. :)
